Become a Patron
I’m using Patreon to support the running costs of the Worldbuilding School. This page explains what Patreon is, why I’ve decided to use it and how it could benefit you.
Become a Patron!What is Patreon?
Patreon is a way for fans to support their favourite artists and creators.
Fans of the Worldbuilding School can pay a monthly subscription which will go towards producing articles, guides and resources. In return you’ll receive access to extra content only available to Patrons.
For example, it might be a behind the scenes article or picture, or I might produce an exclusive map or resource.
Why I’ve decided to use Patreon
Since 2010 I’ve published worldbuilding related content such as:
- The Author’s Guide to Drawing Maps
- The Worldbuilding Framework
- The Worldbuilding Library
- Vancano’s Map Generator
- Plus many maps, articles and other resources
And I’d like to produce even more.
But that’s where I need your help.
Since the site’s birth it has been funded through my freelance work (digital marketing) and a small amount from products such as Vancano’s Map Generator and a number of paid maps. Which is fine, I enjoy running the site and don’t mind paying to keep the lights on.
However, the biggest challenge now is time and resources.
In the early years of the site I was single and a full-time freelancer so I could put time into producing content. Now I’m a father, married and working for an awesome University as their Web Content Officer. Life is good, but it means time is limited so the Worldbuilding School gets neglected.
With your help I would like to change that.
By becoming a patron of the Worldbuilding School you’ll provide the resources needed to move the website forward. I’ll be able to focus more energy on the site but also provide paid writing and creative opportunities to the worldbuilding community.
Plus you’ll receive great worldbuilding content published here on this website. As well as exclusive content for Patrons both on the Patreon website but also in:
- Worldbuilding School Newsletter
- Worldbuilding Library
